Mercury
At 10 years old, Celebrity’s Mercury might be one of the older ships in its fleet, but its classic style and traditional themes keep it on top of the popularity list for the cruise line. The ship was launched in 1997 and has 10 decks and accommodates up to 1,870. Cruise options include Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal and Australia/New Zealand.
In keeping with the subtle elegance of the décor, the ship maintains an amazing art collection with work from artists such as Jasper Johns and Cristo. The Celebrity Theater, with its stunning red velvet chairs and opera house style boxes, is its own work of art. The theater hosts events such as wildlife presentations by the onboard naturalists, musical revues and movies. In addition to the standard casino and nightclub options, shipboard activities include dance lessons, culinary demonstrations and group sports tournaments.
Mercury has only one main dining venue, the Art-Deco style Manhattan restaurant, but it provides excellent cuisine and plenty of choices. The Palm Springs Café, located upstairs from the main restaurant, has a more casual buffet for those not wishing to linger over meals.
