Royal Caribbean launched the Radiance of the Seas in 2001. The ship holds 2,500 people and weighs in at just over 90,000 tons. This was one of the first of the Radiance family of ships for the cruise line and this ship sets the standards for the elegance and sleek style Royal Caribbean is known for. Cabins start at just under 200 square feet and go all the way up to the spacious penthouse suite at over 1,000 square feet. Over 800 of the cabins on the ship are oceanview, with over 70 percent of those sporting balconies, giving it the highest percentage of outside staterooms in the Royal Caribbean family.

Dining options include the lovely Cascades Restaurant, a two-level fine dining establishment with an amazing cascading waterfall as part of its décor, or the two smaller restaurants, Breakers and Tides. All offer 2 seating time choices in the evening, with open seating at breakfast and lunch. Casual fare can be found at the Windjammer Café and alternative restaurants Chops Grill or Portofino offer another fine dining option.

The public areas of the ship radiate class. There is a spectacular ten story glass Centrum as well as a six million dollar art collection displayed throughout the ship. Guests can enjoy swimming at the African-themed solarium with its raised pool and two whirlpools, or get in a workout on the rock-climbing wall. The ShipShape Spa has a large fitness area and offers varied spa treatments. Nightlife options include a show at the three-level Aurora Theater or Hollywood Odyssey Nightclub, trying the slots at the Casino Royale or shooting pool at the Bombay Billiard Club.
