The Westerdam was the third in Holland America’s Vista-class series and was launched in 2004. This 85,000 ton ship holds up to 1,848 passengers, has a modern design and a dynamic atmosphere. The keyword on the Westerdam is “more”. More room, more activities, more variety overall. Rooms are spacious with 85 percent of the staterooms offering ocean views and 67 percent providing balconies. All of the staterooms have premium bedding, televisions, mini-bars and safes. The public areas of the ship are also very open and inviting. There are two pools, both having multiple hot tubs, as well as a full promenade deck, tennis court and golf simulator.

Restaurants include the Vista Dining Room, serving all three meals and having a standard assigned time seating options for dinner, or the casual Lido Buffet for a more laid-back meal. For a special evening, guests will enjoy the Pinnacle Grill, an exclusive dining experience in an elegant setting. Holland America is currently updating its dining program and will be implementing a new “As You Wish” flexible plan on all its ships. The Westerdam is slated to begin this program in spring of 2008.

There is no shortage of entertainment onboard the ship. Passengers can hang out in the casino, watch a live show at the Vista Lounge or dance the night away at the Crow’s Nest, an amazing observation deck by day transformed into a lively nightclub each evening. The Greenhouse Spa offers a variety of relaxing treatments and the fitness center is well-equipped and up-to-date.
